Crash Data Retrieval
An invaluable source of information when possible used to determine crash severity. The data is used in conjunction with photos, scene investigations as well as for comparative purposes for first party and third party statements. We have completed both the 8 hour Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) System Operators Course as well as the 32 hour Analysis and Application Course. Our goal with CDR is to preserve evidence should an accident reconstruction be necessary based on the severity of the crash. As such, we download data from the vehicle (including back powering of circuits) and provide a brief synopsis to the claims examiner which confirms vehicle speed, brake application, accelerator pedal position and crash impact forces. We provide the original “raw file” a PDF version as well as a highlighted PDF version for ease of reference. We have been successful in downloading information from multiple vehicles – finding that often times the insured has overstated their speed prior to impact as an example.
